About Me

about meAnanda Goldstein M.Ed., PhD candidate

Summary

I work with smart children who struggle with reading, comprehension and math; I use a multisensory and multiple intelligences approach to open new potentials and learning pathways.

As a teacher and therapist for more than 20 years, I am passionate about providing a systematic, personalized coaching program through which I strive to offer the right interventions, at the right time, with the right level of intensity and for the right students (students I am sure I can help).

I have taught and spoken at conferences in India, Sweden, San Diego, North Carolina, New Mexico and New York City on various subjects involving healing, learning and the human spirit.

Tutoring children is something I did not seek out, but opportunities have always come to me through colleagues, neighbors and friends who decided that their children needed my help and that I would be a good fit.

I was professionally trained in the Lindamood Bell Method by Patricia Lindamood in San Luis Obispo, California in 1995 and subsequently practiced as a tutor in Kailua, Hawaii for two years. I have also worked as a third- and fourth-grade teacher in the North Carolina public school system. I have mentored as a clinician for Lindamood Bell Learning Processes and have been tutoring privately for about a year.

I most enjoy individualizing a curriculum and helping ambitious but frustrated children become confident and competent readers, such that they do not have to work so much harder than everyone else to thrive in school.

It is so gratifying to see a child go from frustration to confidence. I have used these methods to help my son learn to read, and he went from an IEP to an advanced above-grade-level reader very quickly.
